The President of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), Ivica Dacic, in a television appearance for "Tv Pink" on Sunday, commented on the purchase of the Javelin missile system by Kosovo.
In his reaction, Dacic said that in the event of the outbreak of war, "not even a million 'Javelins' would do work for Kosovo".
"We have a deeper problem, here we are talking about long-term strategic interests to help Kosovo's independence, which we oppose. Everything that has happened since 1999 must be considered. The Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) was armed by Germany, the USA and Islamic countries. Now the same thing is happening ", said the former Serbian chief diplomat.
The American Department of State (DASH) confirmed a few days ago that Kosovo requested to buy the Javelin missile system worth 75 million US dollars, while according to the Security and Defense Cooperation Agency (DSCA), the package includes a total of 246 anti-tank missiles "Javelin" FGM-148F and 24 missile launchers.
DASH announced that the administration of the US president, Joe Biden, presented on Thursday before the Congress the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program proposal for the sale of missiles and other equipment to Kosovo - a measure aimed at increasing defense capabilities of the small Balkan nation, in line with US national security objectives.
At the disposal of the Kosovo Security Force (FSK), in addition to the powerful Turkish "OMTAS" system for the destruction of tanks and armored vehicles, the American anti-tank system "Javelin", which caused a sensation on the battlefield of Ukraine, is also expected to be available. the last time – a symbol of the resistance of the Ukrainian forces to the aggression of Russia.
