Dozens of journalists protested today in Pristina, opposing the decision of the Kosovo government to close the private national television, Klan Kosova.
The decision is considered unfair and dangerous for media freedom in Kosovo. Civil society has also joined the protest, asking Albin Kurti to withdraw from this scandalous decision. One of the journalists, Pranvera Behluli, says that they protested to show the government of Kosovo that they cannot close a media outlet. The protesters' slogan was "Democracy dies in the dark".
"Today we protested with the sole purpose of sending a signal to the Government of Kosovo that they will not be able to close a medium in Kosovo, as what is happening is unprecedented since the war. Our message was clear, they will not be able to stop the freedom of expression in Kosovo", said the journalist.
