Great Britain's envoy for dialogue in Kosovo-Serbia, Stuart Peach, has declared that he supports the path towards the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia. In an interview for the medium N1, Peach said that Britain is in constant conversation with both parties in the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
"We strongly support the path of normalizing relations. At this time we continue to support the European Union's calls for de-escalation. I have done this myself during my visits and I emphasize once again how urgent it is to continue the dialogue. In our history and in my experience of almost half a century in the army, it is always good to talk", says the British emissary", stated Peach for N1.
Peach has called for holding elections in the four northern municipalities.
"We call on both sides to de-escalate the situation, to return the Kosovo Serbs to institutions so that there is balance and justice in the police. To return as soon as possible to the normal activity of the police and enable democracy to really take root at the local level, by which I mean local elections. We expect the biggest possible response and that all parties participate in those local elections" , stated Peach.
The dialogue was interrupted due to the tensions in the north of the country, which returned with the introduction of new Albanian mayors in the municipal facilities in the four municipalities of that region. Since then, there has been an international commitment to resolving the crisis and reducing tensions.
