The Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, has rejected the accusations that the Kosovo government is acting without consulting its allies regarding the opening of the Ibri bridge.
By means of a reaction on the "X" social network, Bislimi has stated that the emissary of the European Union for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak, on June 19 in his last visit to Kosovo, when the topic of the bridge over the river was discussed Ibër said that if Kosovo does not prefer this to be discussed in Brussels, then he recommends that internal talks be held with the local Serbs.
Also further, Bislimi states that he was one of the QUINT partners who recommended the Kosovo government to start the technical inspection of the bridge.
" In his last visit to Kosovo on June 19, when we talked about the Mitrovica bridge, Lajcak said that if Kosovo does not prefer to discuss this issue again in Brussels, he recommends internal discussions with the local Serbs in the north about the potential implications in their safety and concerns. A QUINT partner added the request for technical inspection.
We have followed the two recommendations. Now the EU is threatening Kosovo if it implements the EU-brokered agreement and additional recommendations. We strongly believe that the EU promotes more freedom of movement and fewer borders or walls between different ethnicities" , Bislimi wrote on the "X" platform.
