Chief diplomat Donika Gërvalla has reacted after failing to be elected Speaker of the Kosovo Assembly.
In a Facebook post, Kosovo's acting chief diplomat writes:
"In the words of the poet:
The path of honor is the most difficult, but also the best and the only true path for man.
"And whoever strives for honor, has found honor!"
Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Donika Gërvalla was part of the vote for the new Speaker of the Parliament today.
She was proposed by the Vetëvendosje Movement, in coalition with which is the Guxo party, whose leader is Gërvalla himself.
The latter was proposed as the new Speaker of the Assembly after Albulena Haxhiu failed to receive the necessary votes, for the seventh time in an open vote, the first after the Constitutional Court's decision requiring that the vote be open and that the first party nominate the same candidate only three times.
Gërvalla suffered the fate of Haxhiu by not receiving more than 57 votes or four less than the 61 needed.
Recall, VV Shqipe MP Mehmeti Selimi did not participate in the vote for Gërvalla, but she clarified earlier that her non-participation had nothing to do with party motives.
