LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku has rejected Kurti's invitation for a consultative meeting on government formation.
Albin Kurti's Vetëvendosje movement, after the victory, has started negotiations to form a new government. Albin Kurti invited Abdixhiku to form a coalition, but today he received a negative response.
In a post on social media, LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku writes that "although LDK and I are not guided by anger and believe in dialogue, such a meeting - even a consultative one - would be a fatal violation of human and political dignity."
"LDK remains faithful to the decisions, beliefs and words spoken before the campaign, during the campaign and after the campaign ," emphasized Lumir Abdixhiku.
"Dear citizens of the Republic, In politics, as in life, words have weight. They are a mirror of character, values, and goals. They are a reflection of moments that, when repeated, become convictions – often insurmountable ones. For us, in the Democratic League of Kosovo, words are a responsibility. They are a commitment. They are a trust. Therefore, everyone – especially those in power – must be responsible for the words they say and for the convictions they instill.
For months, indeed for years – before, during and after the campaign – LDK, our members and our voters, have been subject to a language and mindset that offends, divides, labels and attacks. A mindset that has struck at the human essence of politics – respect and dignity. And has violated the fundamental principles on which we have chosen to do politics.
It seems that the words spoken and the beliefs continuously nurtured do not have the same weight for everyone. Because, despite all the things said, done and undone, yesterday I received a letter from the Chairman of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Mr. Kurti, for a consultative meeting between us.
As much as I and the LDK are not guided by anger; as much as we believe in dialogue, cooperation and human and political communication; such a meeting – even a consultative one – would be a fatal transgression of human and political dignity.
Amidst the 'scum', 'suffocating the LDK', 'collaborators of Serbia', amidst the great swamp of spitting at us - I, the LDK and our voters - we do not even find ourselves for consultation. Because words, like convictions, have weight. Words spoken to us have weight. And our words - those we have given to our citizens, to those who are not seduced by the spectacle of division but who believe that the state is built with respect and dignity - have the weight of the word given. The weight of trust. There will be trust! Let this answer be clear even to others who recently, taking on the weight that is not theirs, have attempted to tell the LDK what to do.
LDK – to understand it well – remains faithful to the decisions, convictions and words spoken before the campaign, during the campaign and after the campaign. To everyone – the same. Because words have weight! LDK awaits and supports the constitution of the Assembly on April 15. There is and will be no obstacle. Therefore, let us constitute the Assembly of the Republic. LDK recognizes the legitimate, democratic and constitutional right of the first party to receive the mandate for governance. And in case of its failure, it recognizes the right of everyone to build a majority. Our positions are clear. Yours, Lumir Abdixhiku”, Abdixhiku wrote.
The deputy leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Glauk Konjufca, said that so far, the invitation has only been extended to the third party, the Democratic League of Kosovo. This invitation to the LDK, according to Konjufca, came after they did not achieve their goal of forming a government without the help of opposition parties.
Last week, the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, met with representatives of non-majority communities that have secured seats in the Kosovo Assembly, with the exception of the Serb List.
