Naim Murseli's trial, Liridona Ademaj's brother speaks: Only a life
The trial of Naim Murseli

The prosecution has requested the maximum sentence, life imprisonment, for Naim Murseli, Kushtrim Kokalë and Granit Plavë, accused of the murder of Liridona Ademaj in late November 2023 in Pristina.

Leonardi, the deceased's brother, also spoke at the court session, emphasizing that the family has chosen to believe in justice and expects a fair decision from the court. According to him, the responsibility for organizing the crime is clear.

"We as a family and all Albanians wherever they are, one thing is clear that Naimi organized this murder together with Kushtrim and chose Granit as the murderer. From here, we must give clear messages to all those criminals who dare to raise their hands on our mothers and sisters. We must all know that in the future the children of Liridona will also see this process, they will grow up longing for their mother and at the same time they will seek justice for her. When they see this process, they will understand that they do not need to worry because justice for their mother has been served," he said.

He added that the family sees the maximum sentence as the only way to find some relief for the loss.

"We still have half a life left, which is in your hands to decide whether we should live in fear or feel safe in our country. Therefore, we demand that the sentence be life imprisonment. Any other sentence denigrates Liridona, the country, society and the awareness of our people for this macabre crime. Only the suffering of their sentence soothes the pain of our family, even a little," continued Leonard Ademaj.

According to the indictment, the murder was planned by the victim's husband, Naim Murseli, as a result of the deterioration of family and marital relations, which, according to the prosecution, fueled the motive for revenge.

The investigative file states that the plan was initially proposed to Kushtrim Kokalla, who refused to organize the murder, but then found Granit Plava and connected him to Murseli.

According to the prosecution, the gun used in the crime, equipped with 20 cartridges, was obtained by Tom Dodaj, who sold it for 280 euros and pleaded guilty. He was initially sentenced to 5 years in prison, while the Court of Appeal later reduced his sentence to 3 years.

In the initial hearing held on January 31, 2025, Naim Murseli pleaded not guilty. Meanwhile, Granit Plava did not enter a plea, while Kushtrim Kokalla requested time to consult with the defense.
