The road to elections opens in the North of Kosovo, the CEC accepts requests for

The Central Election Commission in Kosovo has accepted the request for the removal of the mayors of four municipalities with a Serbian majority in the north of Kosovo.

It is about the mayors of the municipalities in North Mitrovica, Zveçan, Leposaviq and Zubin Potok.

These requests were accepted by a group of initiators who initiated the procedure for the removal of the mayor from office.

The spokesperson of the CEC, Valmir Elezi, spoke about the content of the three requests.

"The Central Election Commission has received in the official address three separate requests from the Speakers of the Municipal Assemblies for Leposavic, North Mitrovica and Zubin Potok. The content of these three requirements is the same. First, the three Chairpersons of the Municipal Assemblies have asked the CEC to provide official information to the members of the initiating group as to whether they are voters of the respective municipalities. Secondly, they have asked us to provide them with the information regarding the updated number of registered voters in these municipalities, on the basis of which the minimum necessary number of signatures of 20% is calculated", announced Elezi.

Further, he indicated that the CEC is dealing with these requests and they will respond within the deadline.

"I can confirm that these requests are being handled and we will respond within 5 days. For these answers, we will also cooperate with the Civil Registration Agency, since the voting list originates from the extract of the Central Civil Registry", added Elezi.
