The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has spoken about the relationship with Albania, who says that "we are never close enough".
In the third year of governance, he said that there is always room for alignment, topics for unification and areas for mutual benefit.
"Today, our economic relations are stronger than ever before. With the opening of two customs offices of the Republic of Kosovo in Durrës and Porto Romano, we gained access to the sea, which benefits businesses and our economy. Investments from Albania and commercial exchanges have increased and are increasing. In 2023, Albania became our main trading partner. And this year, we marked a historical moment in our cooperation in the energy sector. We operationalized and inaugurated the Albanian electricity exchange ALPEX, which enables us to multiply exchanges through this joint exchange. Equally historic was the successful candidacy of Kosovo for the organization of the 2030 Mediterranean Games. It became possible precisely with the help and cooperation with Albania. The Albanian coast will welcome the sport of sailing within the framework of these games ", writes Kurti.
Between the two countries, 58 bilateral agreements were signed during these three years, and within the framework of which two joint physical meetings of our governments were held. Among other things, Kurti lists the ease of access to daily services; removal of the apostille stamp requirement; signing the agreement on the recognition of the right to exercise the professions of lawyer and mediator in both countries; operationalization of 26 special cross-border crossings, etc.
He also dwells on the numerous economic projects waiting to be implemented between our two countries, among the most important nationwide projects, is the agreement for the construction of the Pristina-Durra railway and the opening of air corridors.
According to him, "the unified primer and the beginning of the work for the Albanian Encyclopedia, seal the values and our common history".
