Having lost the elections in the runoff, Xhafer Gashi resigns from all positions in LDK

Xhafer Gashi has resigned from all his positions in LDK.

The current mayor of Obiliq, LDK candidate for another term, Xhafer Gashi, has accepted defeat to candidate Halil Thaçi of the Vetëvendosje Movement.

Gashi resigned from all positions within the LDK, as branch chairman and as a member of the party's General Council shortly after vote counting began.

"I thank each and every one of you and many others who are not present here. Since we tried to organize, perhaps we didn't succeed because we were leaked somewhere."

"As the head of the LDK branch in Obiliq, I take responsibility for the loss and resign from the General Council, from the leadership of the Democratic League and from the head of the sub-branch," declared Gashi.
