
The Committee for Political Affairs and Democracy in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has appointed Dora Bakoyannis as rapporteur for Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe.
The news was confirmed by LDK deputy, Arben Gashi, who is part of the delegation of Kosovar deputies to the Council of Europe and is currently in Strasbourg, writes Gazeta Express.
Bakoyannis' task will be to make the report, which goes to the plenary session after receiving the report from the two eminent jurists who have already been appointed.
Meanwhile, two other rapporteurs are expected to be appointed, one in the Committee for Legal Affairs and one in the Committee for Equality and Non-Discrimination.
Meanwhile, Bakoyannis will make the comprehensive consultative report for the Committee on Politics and Democracy, which will go to the plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of KiE.
Gashi also announced that tomorrow the rapporteur will be appointed to the Legal Committee.
Theodora "Dora" Bakoyanni from 2006 to 2009 was the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece. She was also head of the OSCE in 2009. Bakoyannis is currently the vice-president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
At the beginning of this month, the president of the Parliamentary Assembly at the meeting of the Permanent Committee of the Council of Europe appointed two jurists who will make an evaluation report on Kosovo.
German lawyer Thomas Markert and Finnish lawyer Sia Spiliopoulou Akermark are the two lawyers who will deal with drafting the report on Kosovo. The first was involved in the drafting of the constitutions of the states of the region, including that of Kosovo, while Akermark's field of interest is minorities.
