The leader of the Serbian Republican Party, Nikola Sandulovic, has publicly congratulated Kosovo on its independence.
In a direct connection to the studio of the "Off the Record" show on A2 CNN, he stated that if he came to power, recognizing the state of Kosovo would be his first political decision.
According to him, the recognition would be signed in the first week of government, as part of a new policy of peace and reconciliation in the region.
" We would exchange all war criminals, without exception. I would also cancel the state borders between Kosovo and Serbia, as well as with all countries of the former Republic of Yugoslavia. We must sit down, talk, bury the swords of war and find a way for our peoples to live in freedom and peace ," said Sandulovic.
He also commented on the security situation in the region, mentioning the figure of Milan Radojčić and the positions of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, and that another scenario like in northern Kosovo is at risk.
" When Radojčić moves freely in Serbia and feels no responsibility for the possible future conflict in Kosovo, and Vučić has considered the Croatia-Albania-Kosovo military alliance as an enemy, everyone knows that the situation can escalate. Therefore, I draw the attention of the US that it is time to stop this and give the Republican Party's peace a chance, to implement what many politicians in the EU failed to do ," he added.
Sandulovic became known to Albanian public opinion after placing flowers on the grave of the family of legendary KLA commander Adem Jashari, an action that caused strong reactions in Serbia.
