Military parade in Pristina, Kurti: We do not close our eyes to injustices
Albin Kurti

Albin Kurti spoke at the parade of the KSF and the Police about the processes in The Hague, the development of the army and the strengthening of security

Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated that even on a holiday, institutions do not overlook issues they consider unjust.

At the parade ceremony of the Kosovo Security Force and Kosovo Police, he said that some of the leaders of the liberation war are continuing to be held in prolonged detention in The Hague and are facing non-transparent judicial processes.

"Some of the leaders of our liberation war are continuing to be held in prolonged detention in The Hague, in non-transparent and completely unprecedented judicial processes for international justice practices. We believe in justice, but we do not accept rewriting history. The KLA war was a pure liberation and anti-colonial war, a just war of an occupied and oppressed people, and this is a truth that can never be changed by anyone and nothing," Kurti said.

He linked the anniversary of independence to earlier efforts for freedom, emphasizing that statehood did not begin 18 years ago, but was shaped over generations.

"With the just war of the KLA which, together with NATO bombings against Milosevic's Yugoslavia, ended an oppressive regime and paved the way for statehood."

The Prime Minister said that institutions bow before martyrs and those who fell for freedom.

"They are not just part of history, but the foundations of the Republic."

Kurti stated that Kosovo in 2026 is stronger and safer compared to the period of independence. He said that in recent years, spending on the army has increased and the number of KSF members has increased.

" The investment for the purchase of equipment is over 450 million euros, these direct investments in modern armaments, military vehicles, sufficient ammunition and communication systems. We have added 5 new settlements in strategic locations to our army and we are investing in the development of the main training area in Babaj i Bokës in Gjakova, as well as in the construction of infrastructure in all barracks," he said.

He announced that the development of the defense industry has begun.

"We began the development of the defense industry with the ammunition production factory and other upcoming projects that will contribute to the sustainability of security institutions, but also to the economic development of Kosovo."

Kurti emphasized the expansion of strategic partnerships with the US and NATO countries, as well as the strengthening of cooperation with Albania and Croatia on regional security.

"The KSF is developing as a professional army ready to protect state sovereignty, territorial integrity and the lives of Kosovo citizens."
