Kurti obeys the EU, starts the procedures for the removal of the presidents in the north

The Government of Kosovo has started the procedures for the removal of the presidents elected in the north of Kosovo and the announcement of new elections.

After the agreement he made for the extension of the situation in the north of the country, the Ministry of Local Government Administration as responsible for local government issues has started preparing the procedures that would enable the removal of the mayors from the northern municipalities.

This ministry has already appointed the working group for the drafting of the Administrative Instruction for setting the procedures for the citizens' initiative for the removal of the mayors of the municipalities.

According to the decision signed by the minister, Elbert Krasniqi, this group must finalize the draft administrative instruction by September 1, 2023.

The decision states that the working group will be supported by the EU office, representatives from embassies and the OSCE.
