Who is responsible for the conflicts in the north?

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić emphasized that the country (Serbia) is in a serious situation and emphasizes that this is the most difficult moment for the country and the Serbian people, since 2004 and 2008. According to him, the main culprit for the current situation is Albin Kurti , who wants to bring Serbia into conflict with NATO. Aleksandar Vucic called on the international community to form the Association of Municipalities with a Serbian majority and to have Serbian police in the north, because this is the only way to end the conflicts.

Uprising due to "Kurt terror"

When it comes to armed self-conflicts, which the Albanian side assessed as terrorism, the president of Serbia emphasized that "Serbs rebelled because of Kurti's terror and numerous arrests of Serbs by the Kosovo Police". Aleksandar Vučič says that the main goal of the authorities in Pristina is to blame Belgrade for the policeman's murder and that this opportunity has also been used for propaganda against the Serbian Orthodox Church. He emphasized that the Serbian authorities are still examining all the details of the tragic events and that based on this, the ground will be prepared for making subsequent decisions.

Many wrong decisions

At the moment, we really have many open questions, says foreign policy analyst Boshko Jakshič to DW. "First of all, what was the armed group of Serbs looking for in the Banjska monastery and what was the purpose of the gathering there", he adds. On the other hand, according to Jakšič, it is not very clear why the Kosovo Police has not yet done know the identity of the arrested Serbs, so there are a number of uncertainties, but the political dimension is incomparably more important than all the others, our interlocutor emphasizes.

"First of all, it shows how wrong was the decision to remove the Serbs from the institutions of Kosovo and from the Kosovo Police. It is true that Kurti is causing incidents, but given that Vucic is leading these negotiations and that he is the one who should ensure the safety of the Serbs, this is a kind of defeat for Vučić", affirms Jakšič.

Belgrade has lost its lead

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic declares that "those who supported the aggression against Serbia in 1999 continue their policy and support Albin Kurti, whose desire is to cause war". According to him, the international community practically allows a conflict in Kosovo. According to him, "the Serbian people have the right to defend themselves and express their political will and that they do not want conflict with anyone".

While Prime Minister Ana Brnabič accuses Albin Kurti of the current escalation and says that "Serbian President Aleksandar Vučič has warned before that there may be an armed conflict in the north of Kosovo".

The impression in Belgrade is that this development of events did not please the Serbian side, because it comes at a time when it seemed that Albin Kurti was somehow losing the support of international factors. This impression is also shared by Boshko Jaksic, who "does not think that Vucic is behind this action, but this makes the problem even more serious". This may mean that President Vucic does not have, or has lost, control over the militant nationalists. we know if this action was developed in cooperation with the Russians, who are mentioned, but we can say for sure that the Serbs have lost the advantage that Kurti had given them in recent weeks. The promotion of Russian influence is one of the components of this crisis. I think that after the murder of the policeman, there is no more talk about the association of Serbian municipalities", Jakšič draws attention.

Me siguri do të vijë deri te kjo. /DW
