Lumir Abdixhiku

Lumir Abdixhiku has submitted his resignation as chairman of the LDK, but the final decision is expected to be made by the party's Assembly. In a post on social media, Abdixhiku says that he takes responsibility, that he does not place himself above the LDK, but in front of it.

" LDK is an institution. Let me be clear. Not today, not yesterday, but always: I place my political destiny in front of LDK, not on LDK."

And whatever decision the Assembly makes, I will respect it with honor and calm. Until then, let's behave like last night and like up until now, without drama and without protagonism, openly and with dignity. Because above every name is LDK. And so it belongs to all of us ," Abdixhiku writes in a post.

Abdixhiku announced that his resignation comes after a discussion within the LDK structures, where criticism, concerns and different opinions were heard. He emphasizes that he is not tied to the position, but to the LDK as an institution, underlining that his political fate does not depend on the party.

According to him, the decision now belongs to the LDK Assembly, which has been called to hold an open and democratic debate.

Abdixhiku says he will respect any decision made by the party.

Lumir Abdixhiku's post

I have nothing more to offer than resignation! I have listened and we have listened to each other attentively. Every voice, every criticism and every concern, for hours. Five and a half hours. In the end, we have come out with full responsibility and dignity before the citizens to express not the opinion of an individual, nor mine, but of the overwhelming majority, as we agreed after five hours of discussion.

We do not avoid any responsibility and we do not avoid any reflection. I, even less so.

I have taken the most moral step a leader can take: I have offered my resignation. I have opened the way for anyone who has claims. You are free to compete; in the Assembly you have the opportunity. Now the decision is no longer mine, it is the LDK's. I want to say it clearly; I am not tied to the position. I am tied to the house. And the house is maintained with order, with dignity and with trust in its membership and in each of their requests. A politician has nothing more to offer than resignation. Political eliminations may be legitimate as an aspiration, but even for them the membership as a whole decides, not us individually.

We have called the Assembly. There we speak openly. There we propose openly. There we decide openly. Let us wait for the Assembly. Let us hold the debate in front of our house, for hours, for days if necessary. We are known for democracy and freedom of action. Let us behave responsibly. Because LDK is not a momentary reaction, nor is it a protagonism of difficult days; even less a decision of social networks and the applause of opponents.

LDK is an institution. Let me be clear. Not today, not yesterday, but always: I place my political destiny in front of LDK, not on LDK.

And whatever decision the Assembly makes, I will respect it with honor and calm. Until then, let's behave like last night and like up until now, without drama and without protagonism, openly and with dignity. Because above every name is LDK. And so it belongs to all of us.
