The mayor of the municipality of Leposaviçi, Lulzim Hetemi, gave a statement to the media where he stated that it is still unclear whether he will stay in the office. He said that he has been inside the office for over 60 hours while the Serbs have organized violent protests outside.
He said that he is being fed as if he were in a hotel, while he said that the police bring them food every time they change shifts.
" I have never been better. I'm fine, I'm fine with my health too. I'll be fine tonight, I'll be fine tomorrow, I don't have a problem. Let's see how the situation is developing outside and in Pristina and then we act. We are eating bread like in a hotel. The police brought it to us, and when they change, they make us food". Yesterday, a police officer was injured in the north, as a result of attacks with heavy weapons. According to Kosovo media, several journalists and operators were also attacked. Northern Serbs have attacked some of the Kosovo and Albanian media.
According to the police communiqué, the protests of local Serbs in the northern municipalities, Zveçan, Zubin Potok and Leposaviq, were peaceful, but in the afternoon some suspected persons threw stones at police cars. The police mentioned that during the day some "criminal groups" prevented some journalists from performing their duties, and their vehicles were vandalized.
