Close to 23 million euros have been spent on the lawyers of 8 former KLA fighters, who are facing justice at the Special Court in The Hague.
According to the Ministry of Justice, the most was spent on the defense of Jakup Krasniqi - a total of 3,697,250.00 euros.
Then for the defense lawyers of Rexhep Selimi - a total of 3,629,700.00 euros.
After them comes Hashim Thaçi.
According to the response of the Ministry of Justice to KALLXO, 3,483,301.02 euros were spent on the defense of Hashim Thaçi.
3,359,724.91 euros were spent for the defense of Kadri Veseli.
For the defense lawyers of Hysni Gucat, the Ministry of Justice says that it has paid 2,367,759.00 euros.
Then, 2,272,672.14 euros were spent on Salih Mustafa's defense team.
Also, 2,219,963.94 euros were paid for the defense of Nasim Haradinaj, and 1,915,000.00 euros were paid for the defense team of Pjeter Shala.
In total, the Ministry says it has paid 22,945,362.01 euros.
The Ministry of Justice clarifies that this amount has been paid for the period from 2021 to today.
Also, the Ministry emphasizes that this amount is only for the payments of the lawyers with whom it has entered into an agreement for representation.
