Political impasse in Kosovo, Osmani: My goal is to avoid new elections

Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani said that at the consultative meeting, the parties expressed their positions regarding the possibility of exiting the crisis, but said that she has until November 5 to decide whether to announce new elections or mandate someone to form the new Government of Kosovo. The leader of the LVV, Albin Kurti, according to Osmani, has asked them to meet again before November 5.

"Kurti has asked to meet with me again before the 10-day deadline expires. Whether they will come with a proposal or not is their business ," she said.

Osmani said that parties may want new elections to be held, but the Constitutional Court's rulings oblige him to avoid holding elections.

"The Constitutional Court's rulings say that the president must do her best to avoid elections. Political parties have their own positions, the president's obligation is different. I must fulfill that obligation ," she said, adding that she must prove that she has done her best to avoid new elections.

PDK, LDK, and AAK stated that they are in favor of holding new elections, but the leader of the LVV, Albin Kurti, did not declare after the meeting.

Osmani said she has a constitutional deadline of November 5 to decide whether to call new elections or mandate someone to form the new executive. She said Kurti has asked her to meet before November 5.

The country's first president hinted that based on the Constitutional Court's rulings, even if LVV seeks to be mandated again to form the executive, Kurti cannot be the mandated one since it is required to mandate "another" person.
