Normalization of Kosovo-Serbia relations/ Bislimi and Petkovic meet on November

The chief negotiators of Kosovo and Serbia will meet next week under the mediation of the European Union, REL learns from unofficial sources in Brussels.

According to sources, November 16 is mentioned as a possible date for the meeting between the chief negotiator of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, and that of Serbia, Petar Petkovic.

The possibility of a meeting at the level of chief negotiators during this week had been warned by the Serbian chief negotiator, Petar Petkovic, who had stated that the meeting would not be held because it was rejected by Kosovo.

However, this claim of Petkovic has been denied by the special envoy of the European Union for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak.

In a written response to REL, Lajçak's office specified that all meetings within the dialogue are organized on dates that are suitable for both parties and meetings are announced only after the parties confirm their participation.

Lajcak confirmed for REL that he had a preliminary idea that the chief negotiators of Kosovo and Serbia would meet on November 7.

"The Kosovo side has presented a very valid and important request for postponing the meeting, which the EU facilitator has accepted. It is up to the EU facilitator to determine which requests and reasons provided by the parties regarding the organization of the meetings are valid and relevant," the response said.

Lajçak confirmed that there is already an agreement between the parties for the organization of the next meeting, although the date is not mentioned in the reply sent to REL. However, it is warned that in this meeting the next steps in the normalization process and the implementation of the obligations of the dialogue parties will be discussed.
