The journalist of "Nacionale", Vullnet Krasniqi and his cameraman were attacked yesterday by some people while they were reporting from a protest against the film festival "DokuFest" in Prizren. The protest was initiated by the Muslim community of the city and Hoxha also spoke about this during the prayer. But during interviews, the journalist was attacked by some people who called him provocative.
The suspects have been arrested, as the Kosovo Police has already confirmed. The spokesperson of the Kosovo Police for the Prizren region, Vesel Gashi, has confirmed the arrest of a suspect, adding that the case has been described as an "attack on an official".
"We have started investigations with the State Prosecutor's Office for an attack on an official during the performance of his official duty. At the moment, he cannot give more information" - he said.
The attack on the team of the "Nacionale" newspaper has also been strongly condemned by representatives of journalists and civil society. The Association of Journalists of Kosovo has described the attack on journalists as unacceptable, demanding the punishment of the perpetrators.
" AGK is shocked by the attack on the team of the National portal, journalist Vullnet Krasniqi and cameraman Arbër Latifi in Prizren. Krasniqi and Latifi were there to report on the protest called by local imams against the "Dokufest" festival. According to media reports, they were attacked and physically pushed by a part of the protesting crowd while they were doing their work. This is an unacceptable attack and a serious threat to the safety of journalists. AGK demands from the Police the immediate arrest of the attackers and their immediate confrontation with justice" , - says the reaction of AGK.
