The Mayor of Pristina, Përparim Rama, announced yesterday evening that he has signed a letter, which provides free transportation for all veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army, who tomorrow, October 17, will protest in Tirana for the imprisonment of Thaçi and others.
"Today I signed the decision to provide transportation for veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army, who will participate in the nationwide protest on October 17 in Tirana," announced Përparim Rama.
With this decision, the LDK mayor, who is in the run-off for a second term, has sparked a strong debate in Pristina, mainly with Albin Kurti's Vetevendosje and the latter's supporters, who have attacked Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama for the protest being organized in Tirana.
However, ordinary citizens have welcomed the decision, saying that the entire Albanian nation honors the veterans, their families and the martyrs of the Kosovo Liberation Army. The protest will take place tomorrow, October 17 at 5:00 PM, in Tirana at Skanderbeg Square.
"Our veterans are not only part of the past but are part of our national conscience and Pristina, as the capital of Kosovo, will remain an example of institutional respect, political culture and public gratitude.
"With deep respect for all veterans, for the families of martyrs and for all those who still keep the memory of our freedom alive, see you in Tirana. You deserve the respect of an entire nation," the mayor of Pristina continued.
