The conflict between Albin Kurti and the high official of the EU, Josep Borrell, "cracked". Although a day ago it seemed as if the parties agreed in Brussels to calm the situation, in fact tensions have increased and it seems that the "bread" between Kosovo and the EU has also been broken.
Today Borrell made a slightly exaggerated reaction. Kosovo arrested one of the people who attacked KFOR and held a military march in the North, a march coordinated with KFOR. But Borrell reacted harshly, accusing Pristina of inciting tension.
But in the evening came a harsh reaction from Albin Kurti. The latter accused Borrell of making false statements, as he accused the EU official of inciting panic and tension in the North.
He adds that KSF training is a routine activity that is planned every year and KFOR is aware of this. Kurti further says that based on the evidence, the arrested Serbian persons were put in handcuffs as being responsible for the attack on KFOR soldiers in Zveçan on May 29.
"Today's exercises of the 3rd KSF Regiment in South Mitrovica are a routine activity, planned every year, about which KFOR was fully informed. It consisted of 215 soldiers who went from the "Minatori" garrison to Frashër and returned. Disinformation is dangerous and unacceptable. Based on ample evidence and in accordance with the Code of Criminal Procedure and due process rights, the police arrested a person in northern Mitrovica for the attack on KFOR soldiers in Zveçan on 29 May.
As the prime minister of a democratic state, I have no involvement in the investigations and arrests. Spreading panic and false claims only inflames tensions and helps those who seek to escalate them. A call to everyone: please confirm your sources and wait for official information from Kosovo institutions before you decide to engage publicly in broadcasting news or predicting events," Kurti writes on Twitter.
