Nine journalists were attacked by hooligans in Leposaviq on Friday, the Kosovo Police confirmed.
According to the Police, the attacked journalists were on official duty following the developments in the municipality of Leposaviqi after the visit of the Minister of Local Government Administration, Elbert Krasniqi. Some of them have suffered bodily injuries.
" Also, in the vicinity of Leposaviq commune, a vehicle was thrown, suspected to be a bomb, by individuals/criminal groups, and several journalists from various media outlets in Kosovo were brutally attacked. Based on the information so far, it is about nine journalists who were attacked who were on official duty following the developments near the municipality of Leposaviq, where some of them, in addition to concerns, have also suffered various bodily injuries, as well as received medical treatment, it is said . in the notification of the Police.
In addition to the physical attacks and violence against the journalists, according to the police, various filming equipment was damaged, and two of them were robbed of their cameras and mobile phones.
" Obstructing journalists in the performance of their duties, violating free expression, preventing the reflection of the real situation, physical attacks, as well as damage to official vehicles and equipment are criminal actions that will be investigated by the Kosovo Police. In cooperation and coordination with the justice bodies, the cases of attack on official persons, destruction or damage of property and bodily injury have been initiated ", said the Police.
In addition to the journalists, the Police have also confirmed the attack on the official vehicle that was accompanying Minister Krasniqi.
