Politics, business, accusations and Trump: the campaign in Kosovo has
Kurti on the campaign trail

Kurti 'explodes' in Prizren, Devolli and Haradinaj in Washington!

This campaign will produce a winner in the February 9 elections in Kosovo. Kurti hopes for a victory with over 50% and has thrown the slogan of 500K hearts, while the opposition hopes that the VV victory will be below 40%. Combinations under these conditions seem hopeful for the opposition, which is aligned under one camp, but is competing separately.

Two difficult lines have been drawn. The difference is not rhetorical, it is a difference of interests so deep, so irreconcilable that everything has degenerated into political slander. Remove the accusations of corruption, misuse of funds, mismanagement, the dividing line is clear: the state or corporations, justice or development, fairness or honesty?

So far, the corporations (oligarchs) in Kosovo, at least some of which have declared war on the 'Kurti' government, have proven to be more powerful than the state. They have won major cases in the courts, they have blocked laws. The state has even become a servant of the corporations, not knowing where one begins and the other ends.

The state was fragile, with international control and poor and corrupt officials, without a tradition of white-collar workers who took from the state and gave it to corporations and individuals who became rich within days, employed hundreds of people, and boasted that they were contributing to the country.

Governments, powerless, passed all public money through private accounts, overwhelmingly strengthening certain corporations and individuals, making it difficult to distinguish where the state begins and the corporations end.

Public companies collapsed, while corporations and private companies were greatly empowered by public money. The American and European concepts of doing business only clashed during the Kurti government, which insisted on strengthening the state and public companies, a sovereign wealth fund, anti-corruption, and a welfare state policy at all costs.

This is how public hospitals and schools, which had been surrendered to private education and health, began to recover. In fact, the management of public systems was appointed by private individuals and worked for them. Equipment in hospitals broke down and patients were sent to private ones by doctors who worked in both fields. Private education dominated public education.

This in itself does not make businesses, corporations, bad, because everywhere in the world businesses have this goal: to raise their profile and control everything. Our businesses depended on the budget and this created the symbiosis, which the 'Kurti' government tried and is trying to break, or at least bring under control.

So, the pre-election campaign in Kosovo is at its peak. No one speaks for themselves, everyone curses each other. Two political truths are confronting each other: idealists and materialists. The former talk about principles and honesty, the latter about business and justice. The government as a businessman and the businessmen as a shadow government, who bring people to the political scene who collect votes and make decisions in their favor and for their own benefit.

Prime Minister Kurti denounced the Devolli corporation at the height of the campaign in Prizren, while Devolli is campaigning in Washington, where he is invited to President Trump's inauguration ceremony, meeting with congressmen and future senior officials of the Trump administration. He even met the future head of the intelligence agency, the CIA. They accuse Kurti of hindering businesses and interfering with justice.

Along with Devoll and others, other opposition officials have been invited, but not Prime Minister Kurti and his people.

On the other hand, Kurti insists that Serbian gangs used to get rich in the north, while these oligarchs (corporations) got rich in international arbitrations. Both groups are against Kosovo, he says. He called on the Devolli corporation to immediately return the 62 million euros to the Kosovo Telecom, specifying that "Mr. Mobile" officially has only one employee today, that they have already committed the robbery, while according to him the heads of the prosecution are dead for good. Kurti questions the integrity of justice, because according to him, justice without integrity is nothing. "We need a new, professional, patriotic, honest chief prosecutor," Kurti shouts from Prizren.

The Kurti government is also accused of being against Kosovo, as according to the opposition, it is establishing an authoritarian regime and confusing us with the internationals, placing the country under great restrictions.

Haradinaj from Washington, immediately after President Trump's inauguration, gave the electoral message that this government must be overthrown, that it has no results and that it has ruined relations with the West, isolating Kosovo.

In this whole situation, only the slogan of the Democratic Party remains flexible: "Kosovo can do better", they say. Neither party denies this. If Kurti does not get 50% of the mandates, he must form a coalition. Between the calls for the overthrow of the Government coming from the LDK and the Haradinaj/Limaj coalition, coordinated without hiding from the corporations, especially Kurti's "enemy", Devolli, most likely leaves the next government in the hands of the PDK technocrats. The biggest question is, can Kosovo be better without a government that balances interests? Unfortunately, at this stage, the businesses that are the engine of society. They have not yet been strengthened enough to need law and justice.

History has proven that without genuine economic development, without strong businesses, a strong middle class that balances things out is not created. Establishing justice in conditions of poverty and a "thin" middle class is difficult to do without an arbitrariness that is then read as undemocratic.

But the campaign is not over yet, it has just reached its peak and the players have opened their cards! / Pamphlet
