The lawyer requests the acquittal and complete dismissal of the charges against the former speaker of parliament
Attorney Rodney Dixon stated in court that Kadri Veseli is innocent and requested his acquittal from all charges.
Dixon said the trial should end with a verdict declaring Veselin innocent. According to him, any other conclusion would constitute injustice. He stressed that his client deserves a fair and proper trial.
The defense argued that during the review of the evidence it will be proven that Veseli was not involved in any of the criminal offenses that the Prosecution attributes to him.
Dixon objected to the way the prosecution has constructed the case, claiming that it is making sense of every association to support its narrative.
According to him, the Prosecution has failed to support and confirm the charges with convincing evidence. He added that there are many elements that, according to the defense, prove Veseli's innocence.
Dixon asked the court to dismiss the claim of superior liability as well. He argued that this concept does not hold without proof of effective control.
In the absence of a command structure and elements related to a joint criminal enterprise, he said the Prosecution cannot support this charge.
The trial against Veseli continues with the presentation of arguments by the parties.
