
The Kosovo Police has announced that the number of people suspected to have been poisoned by the food they ate in a bar on "Abdyl Mazreku" street in Malishevë has gone up to 63. It is also reported that the owner of the bar has been arrested. The police announce that the condition of the patients is stable.
Meanwhile, the results of the tests are awaited, to better understand the cause of the poisoning.
"PRODUCTION, DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD HARMFUL ITEMS - Str. Abdyl Mazreku-Malishevë, 13.10.2023-16:48. It has been reported from the KKMF-Malishevë that from 4:48 p.m. on the above-mentioned date until midnight, around 63 people have sought medical help under the suspicion that they have been infected by food from a food bar in Malishevë, while three of them have been sent to the KKUK- for further medical treatment. In connection with the case, the owner of the bar, a Kosovar male suspect, was arrested and by the decision of the guardian prosecutor, the suspect was taken into custody," the Police report states.
Regarding the condition of the patients, details have been given by the Municipality of Malisheva, who said that they are being treated in infectious diseases hospitals, which were also visited last night by the Director of the Health Directorate, Hajdin Berisha, accompanied by the director of the KKMF, Afrim Krasniqi and assembly members Valon Mazreku and Halil Morina.
"The condition of the poisoned patients is currently stable and the situation is under control and manageable. According to director Berisha, based on the clinic's data, the condition of the patients is stable and they are being treated by the clinic's staff. Currently, there are 12 patients in the Infectious Disease Clinic, while the number of patients who have sought help at the HCMC in Malishevë is 39. All relevant teams are mobilized to manage the situation and the health personnel at the HCMC are fully prepared to provide services necessary", says the Police report.
