A tragic event occurred this morning in the city of Prizren, where a residence near the House of Culture was engulfed in flames, causing the death of a one-year-old child.
The news was confirmed by the Police spokesman for the Prizren region, Shaqir Bytyqi, who said that three other children, ages 4, 6, and 10, were rescued and are receiving the necessary medical assistance.
" Today, December 30, 2025, at around 10:00, a fire was reported in a residential house in the center of Prizren. A child about 1 year old has lost his life, suspected as a result of smoke inhalation. Three other children have been rescued and are receiving treatment in the Emergency Room ," declared Bytyqi.
According to the Police, fire and emergency units responded immediately to the scene and the fire has been almost completely contained, while teams are still in the area for investigations and full security of the environment.
From the information provided by the General Hospital "Prim. Dr. Daut Mustafa", it is known that the child born in 2024 was brought to the Emergency Room without signs of life. The doctor on duty has determined the death.
" From the same case, three other children, aged 4, 6 and 10, were brought to the pediatric ward as a result of smoke intoxication. Their condition is stable and they are being treated in the pediatric ward ," the hospital's official response states.
