Vetëvendosje once again officially names Albin Kurti as its candidate for

The Vetëvendosje Movement today formalized Albin Kurti's candidacy for prime minister in the early elections of December 28. The decision was made at the 61st meeting of the General Council, which is taking place on Wednesday.

The nomination was announced by Glauk Konjufca, who described Kurti as “the most successful prime minister” and at the same time “the most voted in the history of Kosovo’s parliamentary democracy.” According to him, Vetëvendosje is reaffirming the candidacy of a leadership that, as he expressed it, has baptized important social and democratic transformations in the country.

Konjufca also used the speech to criticize opposition parties, which he said had acted with the intention of blocking state processes. He said that after the February elections, Vetëvendosje had been ready to govern in a coalition, but had been rejected by potential partners.

"Later, even when there was an opportunity to form another government from the opposition, they still refused. This has made many citizens wonder what they really intend. Their goal is to create a deadlock, so that it can then be interpreted as a weakening of the LVV," Konjufca declared.

According to him, the opposition is ready to "take the country to the edge of the abyss," sacrificing political stability just to harm Kurti.

With today's decision, Albin Kurti officially enters the race for another mandate, in a heated political climate and amidst mutual accusations of institutional blockages.
