The process has stalled at the third point: the election of the speaker of parliament.
The political deadlock in Kosovo continues! The members of the Kosovo Assembly have, for the second time in a row, refused to form a secret ballot committee to vote for the new head of the legislative body.
The constitutive session will be held on Monday, May 5, at 10:00 AM.
In the tenth continuation of the constitutive session, the Democratic Party of Kosovo, the Democratic League of Kosovo, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, and the Serbian List have once again refused to propose a representative who would ensure the smooth conduct of the secret ballot.
Before the preliminary attempt, on May 1, the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, invited the leaders of the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Democratic League of Kosovo to a meeting.
PDK leader Memli Krasniqi accepted the invitation, but after the meeting he did not announce an agreement on how to move forward.
That same day, the deputies gathered, but the chairman of the session, Avni Dehari, from the LVV, requested the creation of a committee for a secret ballot for the new speaker. However, the PDK, LDK, Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, and the Serbian List refused to propose any deputies for this committee, and the session was adjourned.
The constitutive session of the ninth legislature began on April 15 and so far, deputies have only passed two items on the agenda of the constitutive session: the report of the Temporary Committee for the Verification of Mandates and that of the oath of deputies.
But the process has stalled at the third point: the election of the speaker of parliament.
The nomination for speaker of parliament is the exclusive right of the winner of the elections, LVV, but so far their candidate, Albulena Haxhiu, has not managed to obtain the necessary votes, which must be a minimum of 61.
