Local elections in Kosovo, over 2 million voters elect mayors of 38

On Sunday, October 12, the citizens of Kosovo will head to the ballot boxes for the second time this year.

Around 2,025,105 voters will cast their ballots to elect mayors and members of the country's 38 municipalities. The number of citizens who have registered to vote by mail from outside Kosovo is 43,993 voters.

All polling stations will open tomorrow at 07:00 and will remain open until 19:00. The CEC has also started distributing election materials to Municipal Counting Centers today.

Institutions such as the Police, the State Prosecution, the Electoral Panel for Complaints and Appeals, the Kosovo Judicial Council, and the Independent Media Commission will be engaged in ensuring the smooth running of the election process.

The number of political entities certified to participate in the elections is 93, of which 32 political parties, 2 coalitions, 32 civic initiatives and 27 independent candidates. The total number of certified candidates representing these political entities is 5,624 candidates, of which 205 candidates for the mayoral elections and 5,419 candidates for the Municipal Assembly elections.

The voting process will take place in 948 Voting Centers, with a total of 2,625 polling stations, of which 910 centers with 2,571 polling stations for regular voting and 38 centers, one for each municipality, with 54 polling stations, to enable conditional voting. According to the Voters' List, the number of citizens eligible to vote tomorrow in the Republic of Kosovo is 2,025,105, who are distributed in 38 municipalities.

The electoral process is being conducted to elect 38 mayors of municipalities and 942 members of municipal assemblies.
