"28 years without the Princess of Hearts" / The world still silently

On August 31, 1997, the world was shocked by the tragic news of the death of Princess Diana.

Known for her humanitarianism and her outgoing nature, Diana died at the age of 36 in a car accident in Paris while traveling with her partner, Egyptian businessman Dodi Al-Fayed.

The couple were in a Mercedes-Benz that crashed into a pillar in the Alma Tunnel while trying to escape the paparazzi. Dodi and their driver, Henri Paul, died at the scene, while Diana died a few hours later in hospital. Her bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones, was the only survivor.

Official investigations and suspicions that never faded

British and French investigations have ruled the incident a tragic accident, noting that the driver was drunk at the time of the crash. But for many, including Dodi Al-Fayed's family, it was no mere accident.

Mohamed Al-Fayed, Dodi's father, has openly accused the British Intelligence Service (MI6) and the Royal Family of involvement in what he calls a well-organized assassination. According to him, the kingdom did not accept the idea of Diana - the mother of the heirs to the throne - marrying a Muslim, and her children having such a stepfather.

Was the driver a spy?

Another theory that continues to circulate concerns the identity of the driver, Henri Paul. Richard Tomlinson, a former member of MI6, has suggested in his book that Paul had connections to the secret services and was possibly an infiltrator. The discovery of a large sum of money under his seat after the accident has raised even more suspicions.

It has even been rumored that the couple's car was bugged, which would have enabled security services to track Diana and Dodi's every move.

Was Diana really the target?

French journalist Francis Gillery, in his book “Lady Died,” drops another clue: that the target was not Diana, but Dodi Al-Fayed himself. According to him, Dodi was not in Paris just to vacation with the Princess, but to conclude an important business deal with his father. Gillery suggests that the attack was an attempt to stop this deal and hit the Al-Fayed family.

28 years later, many questions still unanswered

Despite more than two decades having passed since the event, the theory that Lady Di's death was a conspiracy remains alive in public opinion. For millions of people around the world, she was not only the "People's Princess", but also a figure who remains irreplaceable in modern history.

As the 28th anniversary of her death approaches, questions about that tragic night in Paris continue to remain unanswered.
