Dara gave Bulgaria its first Eurovision victory with the song "Banagaranga", in a final where her performance received a lot of attention. After the announcement of the result, cameras focused on the moments between the singer and her husband, Ervin Ivanov, with hugs and kisses that were immediately shared on social networks.
The singer revealed that it was her partner who convinced her to participate in Eurovision. According to her, initially she had hesitations and insecurities, but the support of her family and husband influenced her decision to compete.
Ervin Ivanov, 35, has no connection to the music industry. He works in the field of pharmacology and toxicology, with a focus on the research and development of innovative drugs. His research is related to chemotherapies, targeted therapies, and the study of cannabinoids and other active substances of natural origin.
The couple's relationship has often been in the spotlight of Bulgarian media. Dara has previously spoken about the influence Ivanov has had on her personal life, saying that he helped her deal with insecurities and the way she viewed family life.
The couple got engaged in Thailand in February 2024, while the wedding ceremony took place in the summer of 2025.
Who is Dara?
Singer and composer, 27 years old, but her artistic journey began in childhood.
Originally from Varna, a city on the Black Sea coast, Darina (her real name, Dara her stage name) grew up obsessively involved with music. She attended the National School of Arts in Varna, where she specialized in folk singing, which may come as a surprise after the performance “Banagaranga.”
At just 16 years old, Dara came third in the Bulgarian “X Factor” and signed a contract with one of the biggest labels in Bulgaria, and has since released numerous songs. She was one of the mentors on “The Voice of Bulgaria” and last year released her album “ADHDARA”. There is a history behind the name of this album, as she was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult. Asked before the final night what Bulgaria's Eurovision victory would mean to her if it happened, Dara said, "A victory would be in a completely different dimension. But I want to be honest with you. A victory would be extraordinary and I will compete to win, absolutely. But what motivates me just as much is the idea of Bulgaria being seen. Really seen. We are a small country with a great cultural soul, ancient, complex, stubborn in the best sense. We have a musical heritage that the world has barely known. If "Banagaranga" can be the song that makes someone in Manchester, Edinburgh or Brighton pick up the phone and search for Bulgaria, search for its music, its coast, its literature, its people, then I have achieved something real."
