An event to the limits of the unimaginable happened recently in Italy.
It is learned that a lawyer has been sentenced in Italy after using voodoo magic while trying to kill her client in order to inherit her property and house.
The unusual punishment has been confirmed even though so far there is no scientific evidence that "magic can make someone die", writes Metro.
Barbara Raimondo, 58, had been appointed a lawyer for the unnamed 86-year-old client who was also a family friend, the court in Genoa, northwest Italy, was told.
Consequently, the pensioner had made the lawyer the sole heir, and she had benefited from the fact to use her property of about 1 million euros.
Raimondo further contracted a 'voodoo witch' to perform black magic rituals to hasten the elderly woman's death.
This attempted murder with "voodoo" cost her the punishment and discovery by the authorities, who saw that Raimondo had emptied her client's accounts.
Raimondo was convicted under Article 49 of the local penal code, which includes what are called "impossible crimes".
She was jailed for five years for embezzlement, fraud and 'voodoo magic'.
Judge Paola Faggioni ordered that Raimondo be stripped of her lawyer's license and pay 1 million euros in compensation.
Raimondo's lawyer, Alessandro Vaccari, said he would appeal the "voodoo" witchcraft conviction.
"We hope that this charge will be dropped, my client believes in witches, but we believe in the appeal, which will overturn the charge," he said.
Paolo Dogliatti, the lawyer for the 86-year-old fraud victim, said: “She is shocked because she had put all her trust in the lawyer by making her an heir, and she was trying to profit from her death. It is very difficult for my client who has lost faith in humanity".
