Albanian-born singer Bebe Rexha has revealed that she experienced a profound pregnancy loss, an emotional confession that came after numerous attacks on her physical appearance following her appearance at the Met Gala.
The artist enthusiastically shared photos from her debut at this prestigious event, where she appeared in a dress designed by Christian Siriano, an elegant and body-hugging outfit with a large tulle skirt, writes DailyMail.
"My first Met Gala," she wrote on social media, expressing her joy at participating.
But the special moment quickly turned to sadness as negative comments about her appearance began to circulate online. One of the harshest criticisms came from rapper Azealia Banks, 33, who was not part of the event but took to the X network (formerly Twitter):
"My sister gives me the feeling of someone who has a hormonal contraceptive implant or something," she wrote.
“It's like having an 'Implanon or NuvaRing' that needs to be removed, or a depo shot that needs to be stopped (I'm not even trying to make fun of it).”
After that, in a later deleted post, Bebe Rexha decided to publicly share the reason behind her weight gain, revealing for the first time a personal tragedy.
"I'm tired of comments about my weight. I have polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and I face difficulties getting pregnant," she explained.
According to WebMD, weight gain is a common side effect of this disorder. She then shared the shocking news:
"I got pregnant, but it didn't go as I hoped, and I've kept that pain quiet ever since. I don't owe anyone the truth, but maybe now you'll think twice before commenting on someone's body."
Rexha did not provide details about when the loss occurred or who she was expecting the child with, but her story was met with a wave of support and compassion from fans and followers around the world.
