The MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony has been canceled due to security concerns given the volatility of world events, organizers have announced, Sky News reports.
The event would be held in Paris on November 5, with stars such as Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Miley Cyrus, etc. Paramount's spokesman said this does not seem a time for a global celebration because of the devastating attacks in Israel and Gaza.
"Given the volatility of world events, we have decided not to move forward with MTV EMA 2023 out of an abundance of caution for thousands of employees. The MTV EMA is an annual celebration of global music. As we watch the devastating events in Israel and Gaza continue to unfold, this does not seem like a moment for global celebration. With thousands of lives already lost, it's a dark moment," said a spokesman for Paramount, which owns MTV.
