Seven years after the sex scandal that rocked Hollywood and ended his career, actor Kevin Spacey says he is now homeless. In an interview with The Telegraph, the two-time Oscar winner revealed that he lives by constantly moving, wherever work comes his way. “I literally don’t have a home, I live in Airbnbs and hotels,” he said, admitting that his financial situation is not good at all. Although he did not reach the point of bankruptcy, Spacey said that the costs in those seven years were astronomical, while the meager income did not cover the expenses. He added that the “cancellation culture,” which left him without many roles, directly influenced his difficult situation.
In a personal reflection, Spacey said he felt like he was "back at square one," traveling wherever he could for work, just as he did in the early days of his career. He once had a stable home in Baltimore, but now "he has all his stuff in storage" until he can finally settle down somewhere.
The 66-year-old actor has been publicly accused by more than 30 men of inappropriate behavior or sexual assault, starting with Anthony Rapp in 2017. After the allegations were made public, Netflix dropped him from “House of Cards,” ending the series without him. Spacey was acquitted in the United Kingdom in 2023 of four counts of sexual assault and also won a separate lawsuit in New York in 2022. However, the 2024 documentary “Spacey Unmasked” brought the numerous allegations against him back into the spotlight.
The actor stressed that he takes responsibility for his behavior, but refuses, as he puts it, “to apologize for lies.” “I will not allow others to invent stories about me,” he said in an interview with Dan Wootton. Despite the difficulties, Kevin Spacey continues to appear in public. This week he was seen at Monte Caputo in Limassol, while last year he was honored with a lifetime achievement award in Cannes.
