Paris Hilton has publicly responded to statements by a former friend of Ghislaine Maxwell, who claims that the American heiress was selected to be introduced to Jeffrey Epstein when she was just 19 years old. Today, Hilton is 44 years old and says she does not remember ever having contact or meeting with Maxwell, describing these claims as untrue and exaggerated.
In a recent interview, Hilton said that stories like this often use her name for sensationalist media effects. "I'm an easy name to use as a 'bait' for clicks," she said, suggesting that she doesn't see the recent comments as based on reality, but as part of the usual cycle of speculation that has accompanied her for years.
The allegations came back into the spotlight after statements from Christopher Mason, who suggested that Maxwell had spotted Hilton at a party in the early 2000s and considered her “suitable for Epstein.” He even mentioned photos of them at the same event, although Hilton categorically denies any acquaintance.
At the time, Paris Hilton was just beginning to take her first steps towards international fame, working with Donald Trump's modeling agency and appearing at a number of fashion events in New York. For Hilton, the resurgence of this story is just another example of how the media uses her image to create the hottest narratives of the moment.
