Eliona Pitarka has raised a serious concern on social media, denouncing a phenomenon that, according to her, is happening in many Albanian hospitals: newborn babies are being fed formula, without the knowledge or permission of their mothers.
In a post on IstaStory, the actress shared a message from a follower recounting her personal experience:
"It happened to my daughter. The nurses fed her formula, under the pretext that she wasn't breastfeeding. They kept the baby away from me for a night so they could feed her."
Eliona described this as an 'ugly phenomenon' that occurs in maternity hospitals in Albania. She alleges that this practice is not done to help, but to create a dependency on formula in the child, deliberately sabotaging breastfeeding in the first hours of life.
"Why? Because there are interests. Because the formula needs to be sold," Pitarka writes.
She called on new mothers to be informed and never allow breast milk to be replaced with formula without medical reasons. According to her, this system is creating distrust in a woman's body at a 'key' moment, such as after childbirth.
