In a conversation with residents yesterday afternoon, Miri told his love story with his German partner.
Miri reveals that they first met at a wedding where they were both invited, and that day they exchanged messages with each other.
Since his partner was leaving for Germany the day after the wedding, Miri, then 32 years old, explains that the only way to maintain their relationship was to communicate on Messenger and through their home phone.
These were two methods that strengthened the relationship between Miri and her partner. Although his English was not perfect, the resident explains that his partner tried to understand him.
"My cousin is getting married, to a German diplomat who worked at the embassy, they get married in Tirana, have the wedding and we go as guests. There comes this German woman, as a friend of this groom, he had taken about 20 people, including her. We meet there at the wedding, the two of us. From there we start contacting each other, the next day she leaves for Germany. I am 32 years old here in Tirana and we talked on Messenger, because that was back then, sometimes she would call me on her home phone, because we didn't have WhatsApp yet. They talked on the phone, on Messenger, I with her in my shepherd's English. What English did I know then, I had forgotten it. If you don't practice it, you forget it. Then I started practicing it again when I was talking to her. I don't know the tense of verbs, as you can see, but she understood. Then she came here once and came exactly for me," said Miri.
