Japan rolls out world's first 6G device

Technology has advanced significantly as internet connectivity has improved worldwide. It enables our devices and applications to become more efficient for practical use. If we want to take digitization to the next level, we must first raise global connectivity. Nowadays, we have 5G internet speeds, but we need something more.

Fortunately, Japanese firms have developed the world's first 6G device, bringing this future of unprecedented internet connectivity closer to reality. The official press release of internet connection developer DOCOMO shares more details about the 6G project.

He explains that DOCOMO, NTT Corporation, NEC Corporation and Fujitsu have been working on this device since 2021. Each firm has handled the following parts of research and development;

· DOCOMO analyzed wireless system configurations for 100 GHz telecommunication applications. It also created wireless transmission equipment with data transmission speeds of up to 100 Gbps at a range of 100 meters.

· NTT Corporation, Japan's leading telecom provider, has developed high-end 300Ghz equipment that can channel 100 Gbps per channel over 100 meters.

· NEC, a Japanese IT firm, produced an active multi-element phased array antenna (APAA) with more than 100 antenna elements.

· Fujitsu, an electronics company based in Japan, created semiconductors that can amplify signals at 100 GHz and 300 GHz frequencies with high output and efficiency.

As a result, they created the world's first 6G device. Its capacity allows a simultaneous transmission of five HD movies every second. It's easy to assume that 6G equipment simply provides faster internet, but it has significant long-term impacts.

6G is described as "the sixth generation of cellular networks for mobile technology". It can eliminate buffering, delays and disconnections worldwide. Most importantly, it will improve car-to-car connectivity and realize a future like the "Internet of Things".

The Internet of Things is a vision where all devices become more functional with Internet connectivity. Nowadays, the world has 5G, which provides 20 GB per millisecond, on the other hand, 6G will provide 1 TB per microsecond.

Swedish telecom service provider Ericsson says the 6G devices will offer precision healthcare, smart agriculture, digital twins, robotic navigation and other advanced technologies. The website of the European Commission announced that the European Union and Japan reaffirmed their digital partnership in the development of 6G, artificial intelligence and other technologies.

As a result, the first 6G device will not be the last as these collaborations will drive further innovation. Soon, everyone outside the Land of the Rising Sun could benefit from 6G.
