Living with a sick 36-year-old for years, Moza Ahmeti: I don't love him

Poet Mimoza Ahmeti has recounted in 'Goca dhe Gra' details of her relationship with a 36-year-old foreigner, specifically a Pole, who is ill.

She said she is doing some work to provide the necessary assistance for him.

Ahmeti: It's very difficult and I'm completely alone in this survival, I've secured a place for him somewhere, myself, but it's extremely difficult because he's pretty unhappy and no one helps, he's not able to understand my experience, first of all because he's young, secondly because the illness has crushed him to the extreme, but to hold in your hands the soul of a man who comes out several times to die and give it back to him, is an abnormal connection, I don't know how I'm going to find ways to get out of this situation so that he can be helped and everything makes sense, because it's very difficult because they say 'he's sick, let him go', but he has to go the way he wants to go and that's why it's very difficult.

Is his family interested in him?

Ahmeti: My mother has had some conflicts with him because she is divorced, she is a teacher, a professor of Chemistry, but unfortunately she also has a daughter 10 years younger than her with this disease, the daughter has 2 children and both are divorced although they live in very good conditions, much better than mine.

They didn't ask to take him to Poland, where they live?

Ahmeti: But who will add to his troubles?! You have to have the heart to add to his troubles, I have tried very hard to find him a pension so that he does not have to make choices because he is sick, but because he is free, but I am not finding any way or opportunity, I have written, I saw that in his city there is a lady, a mother and daughter with extraordinary wealth, one of the richest in the world, I spoke to a friend who came from Switzerland and I said 'how is it possible that for this category'... listen, Moza told me, even those who do charity do it with certain policies to benefit something, not because someone turned out to be sick and let's help them. I do a few jobs, I work at the university, a television project that I hope will continue, sometimes I tell myself 'let this go, don't let it take over your mind', but there are many moments when I take a break and once he told me that everything is central to you except me, but he is sick, he is a sinner, with a soul even though he has tired me and doesn't treat me to the standard I would like, it comes from the illness and I understand, I would like him to emerge as unscathed as possible in a supportive space.

Asked if she still loves him, Moza replied:

No, I don't want it anymore. I'm tired now.
