Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have accused author Tom Bower of spreading "crazy conspiracy theories and melodrama" in his new biography of the British royal family.
According to excerpts published by The Times, Bower claims that Queen Camilla told a friend that Meghan had "manipulated" Prince Harry. He also writes that Meghan was seen by Prince William and Catherine as a divisive figure and a "threat" to the royal family.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the couple said the author had crossed the line from criticism to personal obsession. According to them, Bower has built a career creating complicated theories about people he does not know and has never met.
The book explores the strained relationship between Harry and his brother, Prince William, as well as the couple's life after stepping down from royal duties in 2020 and relocating to the US. It also details the couple's media and charitable projects, including deals with Netflix and Spotify.
The book is titled “Betrayal: Power, Deceit And The Fight For The Future Of The Royal Family” and is due out soon. It is a follow-up to Bower’s 2022 work about the conflicts within the Windsor family.
In another development, Netflix has officially ended its collaboration with Meghan Markle's controversial lifestyle brand, As Ever, referring to her two-season series With Love, Meghan.
An industry source told Page Six: “The show was no longer going on, so it didn’t make sense to continue the partnership.”
A Netflix spokesperson added: "Meghan's passion for embellishing everyday moments in beautiful yet simple ways inspired the creation of the As Ever brand and we are delighted to have played a role in bringing this vision to life."
