Anna Sorokin, the fake Russian heiress on whom the Netflix series "Inventing Anna" is based, took part in the show "Dancing >ith the Stars" this September in America, wearing an electronic bracelet, being that he is under house arrest.
"It is not a big problem. It's very light and I tightened it so that it doesn't move, so it's not that bad," the protagonist told the Associated Press.
Sorokin was convicted in 2019 of defrauding banks, restaurants, hotels and various high society people in Manhattan of over $200,000.
She was released from prison in February 2021, but was arrested soon after for crimes related to immigration: according to the American authorities, Sorokin, who has German citizenship, has exceeded the period of stay, so he would have to leave the U.S. but she appealed the decision and is now under house arrest, awaiting the conclusion of the court case.
Born in Russia in 1991 but raised in Germany, Sorokin moved to America in 2013 under the name Anna Delvey. There he began to frequent luxury hotels and restaurants and, by taking away a German heiress with a fortune of tens of millions of dollars in Europe, he managed to get huge debts from banks and live a life far beyond his means, using blank checks or forged documents.
She is currently under house arrest in New York, but attends the TV show and social events (she was earlier photographed at a high fashion show in New York).
