Discriminatory language statements in Albanian media continue to provoke reactions. Recently, an incident was made public on the show Ferma VIP, where moderator Arbana Osmani used an expression with an offensive connotation towards a contestant.
In an interview with Piranjat News, Deputy Minister of Culture and Integration, Majko, described the phenomenon as worrying and recurring, warning that AMA institutions will act through an official request.
"Absolutely they have an impact. Everyone has the right to be called whatever they want to be called. We are called Roma and not with epithets that have a derogatory connotation. When people don't understand this, they should be held accountable," said Majko, emphasizing the negative impact that these statements have on prejudice against the Roma community.
The Deputy Minister appealed for more responsibility from the media and public figures, emphasizing that changing mentality requires time and continuous awareness.
