Meghan Markle's half-sister Samantha is launching a new legal battle to sue the duchess for defamation claiming she portrayed her as a 'liar, racist, fame-seeker' leaving her unable to work.
The 59-year-old is appealing a court ruling rejecting her claim that Meghan made her out to be a 'liar, racist, fame-seeker'. According to court documents, Samantha claims her sister has ruined her image publicly and on a global scale.
"She has managed to prevent Samantha from being able to work or even enjoy the most common activities, such as going to the grocery store without being harassed," reads the document that Samantha's lawyer brought to the court.
The case revolves around comments made during Prince Harry and Meghan's 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey. During the interview, Meghan said that Samantha only changed her name to Markle after Meghan started dating Harry. Going back to Meghan's statement that Samantha changed her name from Rasmussen back to Markle after the Duchess started dating Harry, this is true and that according to the court Samantha's image damage claims are unfounded.
Meghan Markle has spoken again about her experience with bullying at the Royal Palace, as well as the suicidal thoughts she has had in the past. Prince Harry's wife made this confession about her bitter experience during the promotion of the new platform "The Parent's Network" (for direct or virtual support of parents who have lost children). Speaking about online bullying and the effects it has on children, Markle spoke about how her experiences have connected her to these families.
