Liam Payne's body to be flown to UK The One Direction star died in a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, last month.
He was staying at the CasaSur Palermo hotel when he fell from the balcony of his third floor room. Preliminary results of an autopsy showed he suffered 'multiple trauma' due to the tragic incident on October 16.
His body has been held in Argentina since then while authorities carry out successive tests. Payne's father, Geoff, traveled to the Argentine capital after his son's death.
Public prosecutor Andrés Madrea told the BBC that the late singer's body was released to his family on Wednesday, October 6. This means he can now return to Britain.
Argentina's Public Prosecutor's Office said it is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death. The former ITV The X Factor star had been staying at the venue with girlfriend Kate Cassidy.
Kate revealed that she only returned to her home in Florida, while Payne stayed in Buenos Aires. In a statement, Payne's family said they were 'heartbroken'.
"Liam will live forever in our hearts and we will remember him for his kind, funny and brave spirit."
Payne has a seven-year-old son with ex-partner Cheryl Cole.
