Love stories know no boundaries or age, and Marjorie Fiterman and Bernie Littman are the most beautiful proof of that. This special couple, residents of an asylum in Philadelphia, show that true feelings can blossom at any stage of life.
They found love after losing their spouses. After nine years together, they were announced as the world's oldest newlywed couple, according to Guinness World Records.
At 102 and 100 years old, their history dates back to their college days in Pennsylvania. She studied teaching, he studied engineering, and their paths did not cross until they both ended up in the same asylum, just meters away from each other, after each having been married for over 60 years.
A costume party was the first moment that brought them closer. Meetings began over meals and activities, and their bond grew especially strong during the Covid-19 pandemic, when they leaned on each other.
Littman's granddaughter, Sarah Sicherman, says they are "lucky to find each other and support each other." In May, they decided to get married, breaking the preconceptions that age was a barrier to such a step.
