Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have decided to part ways after 19 years of marriage, as confirmed by American media. The 58-year-old Oscar-winning actress and the 57-year-old musician have two daughters: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
According to a source close to them, their intense work schedules were crucial to the distance that developed between them. "Keith never sees Nicole, whether she's filming a movie or he's on tour. There was a lot of love between them and they may not be getting divorced, but their relationship is no longer working as a couple," he said.
The couple was last seen together in June, when they attended a World Cup match in Nashville, Tennessee. Since then, Urban has been mostly on the road with his “High and Alive World Tour” and is preparing to perform in Pennsylvania. Kidman and their daughters remain in Nashville, in the $4 million mansion they bought together.
According to a report from TMZ, the musician has already purchased his own home in the same city and has moved out of the family home.
TMZ was the first to report the news, noting that the two had been living apart since the summer.
“Nicole didn’t want this,” a friend of the couple told PEOPLE. “She was fighting to save the marriage.”
Nicole's sister, Antonia, is standing by the actress, as is the entire Kidman family, in support of her, PEOPLE reports.
Kidman, 58, and Urban, 57, first met in 2005 at the “G’Day USA” gala in Los Angeles, an event promoting their shared homeland, Australia.
The couple began making public appearances and announced their engagement a year later, shortly before they married in Sydney in June 2006.
In the first months of their marriage, Kidman had managed to mobilize the singer to face his alcohol addiction, convincing him to go to a rehabilitation center.
In the years that followed, the singer often said that he owed his recovery to his wife.
