With four weeks left in the Premier League season, Burnley have mathematically sealed relegation from English football's elite, confirming a disappointing season for the club.

The former Liverpool captain has been without a team since January 2025, after his spell with Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia ended. Burnley's board are looking to overhaul the club's structure and management, with the 45-year-old considered a manager with the right experience to lead the team back to the Premier League.
A possible appointment of Gerrard could also affect Albanian striker Armando Broja. Being known for his good relationships with players, the English coach could give more space and a leading role to Broja, unlike what happened under Parker.
In the 2026-2027 season, Burnley will compete in the Championship, where Broja will also be part of the team, who has a contract with the club until the summer of 2030.
